All Roman Catholic cemeteries in Quebec are subject to either of these laws:
- Act respecting Roman Catholic cemetery companies, R.S.Q., c. C-40.1
- Act respecting fabriques, R.S.Q., c. F-1
- Roman Catholic Bishops Act, R.S.Q., c. E-17
- Religious Corporations Act, R.S.Q., c. C-71
- Private Act
The corporations governed by these Acts are concerned with the holding and administration of Roman Catholic cemeteries. For this reason, they have letters patent and the various powers, rights and privileges of ordinary corporations, but also powers, rights and privileges specific to them.
